Versatile and Unique
Cork is the bark of the cork oak. It is a 100% natural plant tissue and consists of a hive of microscopic cells that have a gas identical to air and coated mainly with suberin and lignin. It has a range of applications to attributes that no technology has managed, until today, to imitate, match or surpass.
100% natural
It is a 100% natural raw material, 100% reusable and 100% recyclable extracted from the cork oaks without ever harming the normal development of the species and without damaging the tree. The extracted cork is used 100%. But after being transformed, for example into corks, cork can return to the production process. Cork stoppers can be recycled by crushing. The granules resulting from this process can be used in other products, such as shoe soles, cladding panels, fishing floats.
Intrinsic Properties
Light
More than 50% of its volume is air, which makes it very light. It weighs just 0.16 grams per cubic centimeter and is able to float.
Impermeable to liquids and gases
Completely impermeable to liquids and practically impermeable to gases, thanks to the suberin and cerin present in the constitution of its cells. Its resistance to moisture allows it to age without deteriorating.
Elastic and compressible
It can be compressed to about half its width without losing any flexibility and decompresses, recovering its initial shape and volume as soon as it is no longer pressed. Flexibility that is given by its watertight cells and made up of a gas mixture similar to air. It is the only solid that being compressed on one side does not increase in volume on the other. Given its elasticity it is able to adapt to changes in temperature and pressure without suffering variations.

Antistatic and hypoallergenic
It does not absorb dust and prevents the appearance of mites and therefore contributes to protection against allergies.
